Originally designed as a ‘primer’ for most of the popular ‘freestyle’ (not counted) stitches used domestically for centuries. The Heirloom Sampler is also a lesson in personal style. Students choose their own colour palettes and are encouraged to ‘play’ with the set stitches for added interest. Once the foundation is achieved, the class turns to design for the centre panel, which is entirely up to the students’ imaginations. There is lots of support and advice for those who are nervous about designing their own embroidery, along with stitch plan suggestions and time in class to try ideas out. If you’re new to traditional hand embroidery, or if you’d like to learn how to design something personal for stitching, you will love this course.
