Welcome to the KJS Embroidery Blog

Since starting a blog many years ago, it's time for a radical overhaul of its design and purpose!

Ten years ago I started to write an off-and-on-again blog based on what I was doing and/or thinking at the time. You can still read these articles, but to quote an old saying, "I've come a long way, baby! ". So here's the new, pre-planned and organised blog, welcome to it!

Why start writing a blog again?

There have been so many changes not only in my career/profession over the last decade, but technology has changed out of all recognition. The internet is so much bigger than it was of course, but for small business owners and creatives like me, having a website and a blog has been made so much easier as well. And Gawd Bless Zoom! My whole teaching portfolio is now online, and my students are all over the world - ladies, you are the sunshine in my days!!!

So it's time to revisit the whole point of a KJS blog and what it's for. I'd like to think that it will do a couple of things. First it will be a window onto Kelley Jane Stitches - the designs, the stitches and the classes. But I thought you'd also like to see behind the scenes, where it's messier and more chaotic! For example, what is it like to make nearly 200 needle cases and why on earth would you want to? Secondly, I've been doing this fantastic job for over 20 years, and I've developed ways of doing things that readers might find quite useful to know, along with bits of equipment and materials which I would like to recommend. And finally, I'd like to keep you up to date on what's going on in the Glass Tent (a.k.a. the little conservatory on the back of Tiny, my wee house). What's on the trestles from week to week, what classes are in the pipeline and anything else I might have framed up.

I hope you find the upcoming articles interesting and entertaining. My plan is to write one every week, and publish on a Sunday. If you want me to cover anything in particular, DO get in touch and I'll find somewhere to write about it!

See you in February.
